Following presentations in Toronto and Vancouver, it’s the Canadian city of Montreal’s turn to put the spotlight on local designers.

On Monday, Montreal’s unofficial fashion week Fashion Preview kicked off its 7th edition at the Agora Hydro-Québec at UQAM. The three-day event will bring together close to 30 ready-to-wear and accessories designers, as well as special showcases from Montreal’s fashion schools.

Taking center stage, all three days will kick off with presentations by the three fashion schools: LaSalle College, Cégep Marie-Victorin and the Ecole supérieure de mode ESG-UQAM. Montreal fashion veterans Joseph Helmer, who also presented in Toronto this month, along with Montreal’s Leinad Beaudet and MUSE par Christian Chenai, will showcase their Fall/Winter 2017-18 collections, joining Brit Wacher, Montreal label KQK and others.

For another year, the Accessories Village will be open for guests to shop accessories from the likes of Bijoux Pépine, Coton Mouton, Elisabeth Lehoux, Gibou, Guillotine and more, while beauty demonstrations will also liven up the Accessories Village. New this season, pop-up installations will be on display and will showcase new interactive technologies in fashion.

The organizers of Fashion Preview, Mode Avant-Première, received $30,000 Canadian from the city of Montreal and the Quebec Government this year for the 7th edition of Fashion Preview.

Fashion Preview launched in 2014 following the cancelation of Montreal’s official fashion week.
