Net-A-Porter targets Asia-Pacific with inflight shopping venture

Published
Aug 15, 2016

Net-A-Porter has tapped Cathay Pacific for a longhaul inflight e-commerce venture, which will give Asia-Pacific travellers the ability to shop online midair.

Net-A-Porter can now be shopped by longhaul travellers on Cathay Pacific

The new deal, which also includes men's wear e-tailer Mr Porter, will see the e-commerce giant become the first ever online shopping platform on Cathay Pacific. It forms part of the airline's new inflight Wi-Fi on the A350 aircraft.

The move signals Net-A-Porter's increase in services to the Asia Pacific region, as Cathay Pacific is the main carrier to Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, travellers landing in London, New York or Hong Kong are able to shop online en route, and then take advantage of same day delivery.

Both magazines Porter and Mr Porter will be available in print and digital versions to read during the flight.

"Our customers are international, always on the move and time poor and so they value convenience above all," said Net-A-Porter's vice president of global buying, Sarah Rutson.

"We built our business on going the extra mile for our customers, and this project is an extension of our mission; with inflight connectivity we are enabling them to shop the very best edit of the world’s top brands whilst traveling the globe."
