Net-A-Porter digital mag names Zoë Kravitz top of first best-dressed list

Net-A-Porter’s PorterEdit digital magazine has released its list of best dressed celebs for 2019 with the mag backing a number of entertainment names and one royal to be among the year’s key fashion influencers.

Zoë Kravitz scored top spot on the PorterEdit best-dressed list

It’s a first for the title and sees Zoë Kravitz in number one position. Porter said she “has long been high up on our barometer of cool, but this year she graduated to a status we only issue in extreme circumstances.” It hailed her “daring dresses, effortless, I-woke-up-like-this off-duty style, and a dry sense of humour that makes for an even better finishing touch than the engagement ring Karl Glusman gave her in February.”

And it said the recent promotional tour for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald “gave Kravitz just the stage she needed to impress in a series of dresses by Gabriela Hearst, Armani Privé and Saint Laurent, the latter – a sequin-covered column dress with a huge pink bow – securing our top spot.”

Margot Robbie took second place, again driven by her numerous red carpet appearances and her status last year being underlined by Chanel signing her up as an ambassador. The release of Mary Queen of Scots has seen her on red carpets again in looks by Self-Portrait, Isabel Marant, Rodarte and Chanel, but the Rodarte dress worn to the movie’s London premiere was rated her top pick.

Dakota Johnson was third, as much for her off-duty “denim and distressed tees with a loose-fit blazer or leather jacket” as for her red carpet style.

In fourth place was someone who has been at the top of a number of other lists, Meghan Markle. PorterEdit called out “her efforts to move along some of the more stifling royal fashion traditions, such as shiny tan tights and always-immaculate hair,” and heaped praise on “wedding gown number two”, the Stella McCartney-designed, crepe halterneck dress that the Duchess wore for the evening celebrations on May 19. Her choice of dark nail polish at The Fashion Awards also made headline news.

Rule-breaker Tilda Swinton was in fifth place, ahead of a celeb praised for her “very cool choices”, Saoirse Ronan. Rihanna’s risk-risk-taking saw her in seventh spot, while actress Yara Shahidi made it to number eight for doing “off-duty with ease”. Meanwhile Zendaya ranked ninth and Sarah Paulson 10th.
