New Serena Rees label Les Girls Les Boys suffers £1m theft

Thousands of intimates worth £1 million from Agent Provocateur founder Serena Rees’ new label Les Girls Les Boys have been stolen in a lorry heist just days before the brand’s planned launch.

Described as a gender-fluid fashion brand, Les Girls and Les Boys is due to launch on 1 September, however there will be a short supply of many items in the UK due to the theft.

According to reports, a lorry carrying stock to a warehouse in Leeds was targeted on 20 August with thieves taking some 12,000 items of clothing after cutting the truck’s side curtain.

Police are trying to locate the stolen stock and said the fact that the items were not yet on the market would make it easier to track them down.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire police said: “At 7.56am on 19 August, we received a report of a theft from an articulated lorry which had been parked up near the Dodworth business park in Barnsley. The driver of the lorry reported to us that the side curtains on the lorry had been cut open and that a quantity of garments had been stolen from the rear of the vehicle.”

Les Girls Les Boys is the latest venture of Rees, who co-founded lingerie brand Agent Provocateur in 1994. Taking a new approach with Les Girls and Les Boys, the unisex brand will focus on “modern intimates and layers” that will celebrate “the fluidity of love and friendship.”

The label aims to provide customers with ‘bed to street’ products, including a range of underwear, T-shirts, pyjamas, hoodies and jogging bottoms. Prices will start from £20.

According to a spokesperson, Les Girls Les Boys will launch on Friday as planned.
