New ecommerce site 11 Honoré fills a niche with designer plus-size clothing company

As more and more fashion brands like Forever 21 and Hanes introduce plus-size offerings in an effort to make their collections more size inclusive, a newly launched ecommerce site called 11 Honoré is only specializing in high-end designer clothing in sizes 10 through 20.

It’s common knowledge that many luxury designers don’t offer clothing in sizes 12 and up, which is what reportedly prompted 11 Honoré co-founder Kathryn Retzer to fill this missing link. Retzer and her business partner Patrick Herning are fashion industry veterans with four decades of combined experience in the areas of fashion editorial (Retzer was a previous editor at Allure, Vogue and Town & Country) and brand building.

According to a 2016 study from research firm Taylor & Francis, the average adult American woman wears a size 16—larger than anticipated before the study. A misses size 16-18, according to the study, is actually similar to a women’s plus size 20W.

11 Honoré’s website showcases the tagline “the runway, edited” and features a blog with inspiring, body positive stories. There are currently wares from 14 designers available, including Zac Posen, Marchesa, Christian Siriano and Monique Lhuillier.
