Nike CEO Mark Parker elected to Disney Board of Directors

The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors announced on Monday that it has elected Mark G. Parker, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Nike, Inc., as director effective immediately. He will stand for election along with the company’s other directors at Disney’s annual meeting on March 3 in Chicago.

Parker has served as President and CEO of Nike since January 2006. He joined the company as one of its first footwear designers in 1979 and has held numerous executive positions during his 37-year tenure, including Vice President of Consumer Product Marketing, Vice President of Global Footwear and Co-President of the Nike Brand. He is also responsible for the growth of Nike’s global business portfolio, which includes Converse Inc. and Hurley International LLC.

The appointment of Mark Parker to Disney’s Board of Directors brings its total membership to 12.
