Nike adds Thasunda Brown Duckett to board

Nike has added banking executive Thasunda Brown Duckett to its board of directors.

Thasunda Brown Duckett, CEO of Chase consumer banking - Nike

Named one of the ‘Most Powerful Women in Banking’ by American Banker magazine, Duckett currently serves as the chief executive officer of Chase consumer banking, a division of JPMorgan Chase & Co. In the role, which she began in 2016, she is responsible for overseeing a banking network with more than $800 billion in deposits and investments and 50,000 employees.

Prior to her current role, Duckett held a variety of executive roles in Chase Home Lending, and most recently served as CEO of Chase Auto Finance, a bank provider of auto financing with a portfolio of more than $80 billion in assets and relationships.

Throughout her financial career, Duckett has served in a variety of management roles in affordable lending, home lending and mortgage banking, and has prioritized the development of tools and strategies that help consumers improve their financial health and literacy. Among these initiatives, Duckett is executive sponsor of JPMorgan Chase’s ‘Advancing Black Pathways’ program, which works to help black Americans achieve economic success through wealth, education and careers.

“[Duckett’s] expertise in leading digital and physical transformation in retail banking will be invaluable in helping Nike further deepen consumer relationships,” said Mark Parker, chairman, president and CEO of Nike.

“She is a dynamic and forward-thinking leader, and we are delighted that she has joined the board.”

Duckett’s appointment to the board comes after Nike was hit with a racial discrimination lawsuit in March of this year. The suit followed two other discrimination lawsuits made against the company in August and September of 2018, both of which focused on gender discrimination.
