Nike to donate over 140,000 products to healthcare workers across the U.S. and Europe

In order to support those on the frontlines of the Covid-19 pandemic, Nike has announced that it will donate over 140,000 pieces of footwear, apparel and equipment - amounting to $5.5 million worth of product - across the United States and Europe. 

As part of the initiative, the sportswear giant will donate 30,000 pairs of Nike Air Zoom Pulse shoes - Nike's first shoe designed for those working in hospitals - to health systems and hospitals in Chicago, Los Angeles, Memphis and New York City, and within the Veterans Health Administration. 

The Air Zoom Pulse models, as well as all other shoes set to go to healthcare workers in the U.S., will be distributed in partnership with nonprofit and longtime Nike partner, Good360. In addition, Good360 will help deliver approximately 95,000 pairs of soccer socks offering mild compression to healthcare workers in Los Angeles and New York City.

An additional 2,500 pairs of Air Zoom Pulse are set to be donated to hospitals across Europe, including Barcelona, Berlin, London, Milan, Paris and in Belgium, with the help of local organizations across Europe. 

The initiative is further boosted by videos of Nike athletes thanking health professionals for their work during the global crisis. 

Through its multiple Covid-19 response efforts, Nike has donated 1,100 Nike Sportswear kits, which include a drawstring bag, water bottle, a hat or headband and socks, to healthcare workers in New York City, while across Europe, the company has donated nearly 4,000 pairs of shoes and more than 3,500 pieces of sweat-wicking Dri-Fit apparel to over a dozen hospitals and shelters.

In addition, The Nike Foundation, Nike leaders and Nike employees have collectively committed more than $25 million to Covid-19 relief efforts. 

In late March, the company announced that Nike owned and operated stores will remain temporarily closed in multiple countries around the world as the pandemic continues.
