Nike to open logistics center in Honduras
Sep 1, 2016
The Honduran Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has confirmed that sportswear manufacturer and retailer Nike will be opening a new logistic center in the country.
The facility will create between 25,000 and 30,000 jobs and service retail distribution to the company’s locations across Latin America and the United States.
According to a press release, the opening of the logistics centre is a result of Honduran President Hernandez’s efforts in Denmark, where an event to promote Honduras’ textile industry was held in May.
According to government data, Honduras is the world’s fifth largest exporter of knit t-shirts after China, Bangladesh, India and Germany. Its top export destination is the U.S., where it has become the main knit t-shirt exporter and second largest distributor of knit sweaters.
