Nike to open Unite concept store at Merry Hill
The Merry Hill mall has scored a second major signing in just a week. Nike Unite, the sportwear giant’s community-focused concept, is taking a 10,165 sq ft space on the lower level of the retail and leisure destination in Brierley Hill.
Last week, women’s fashion brand Vanilla announced it will open a statement store at Merry Hill in April.
Nike’s new store, which is designed to be a “local home for members and the most valuable destination for sport”, will not only mark its a regional debut for the concept, but will be the first within a shopping centre environment.
Products in each Nike Unite are “reflective of what the community is interested in; locally curated, every-day essentials at the best price, matched with the newness of select seasonal offerings for men, women, and kids”, it said.
Alistair Winning, Asset Manager at Merry Hill’s owner/operator Sovereign Centros, said: “As one of the top 10 UK retail and leisure destinations in the UK, Merry Hill requires a tenant mix that delivers a variety of best-in-class brands, while reflecting its position within the West Midlands. We are so excited to welcome Nike Unite, for what will be their first-ever store in this type of destination. The brand and concept align perfectly with our community ethos, elevating the [mall] experience and adding to the growing collection of aspirational brands here.”
He also said the destination has had a “hugely successful 2022”, with more than 175,000 sq ft of new deals secured throughout the calendar year. Leading retailers such as Ted Baker and Kurt Geiger opened new stores, and household names including H&M and Beaverbrooks committed to lease renewals and refurbished units.
