Nordstrom taps New York City for two Nordstrom Local stores
Nordstrom will continue to expand in New York City this fall with the opening of two new Nordstrom Local stores.
Located at 13 7th Ave in The Greenwich Lane property in the West Village and at 1273 3rd Avenue on the Upper East Side, each store will span approximately 2,400 square-feet and just under 2,000 square-feet, respectively.
Referred to as “neighborhood service hubs” by the company, each Nordstrom Local caters to the unique needs of the local area, forgoing inventory for services. The two new New York City locations will be customized for each New York neighborhood, and Nordstrom said it will partner with local customers to help better ensure the convenience of each hub.
Special base offerings at the two stores will include services like online order pick-up, alterations, tailoring and styling, among others. In addition, the stores will also host events for Nordy Club loyalty members and the public that focus on building relationships with the local consumer base and local businesses.
"NYC represents our largest online market and we know when we open physical stores it complements our online presence and increases sales," said Jamie Nordstrom, president of stores.
"Nordstrom Local...are one component of our local market strategy which allows us to engage with customers through more convenient access to services such as buy online pick up in store, alterations and personal styling."
The company introduced its first Nordstrom Local in Los Angeles in 2017, and has since reported the high demand of services like next day pick-up, alterations and curbside pickup.
The latest iteration of Nordstrom’s local market strategy, the New York City Nordstrom Local stores precede the company’s 320,000 square-foot Manhattan flagship store set to open in October.
