Swiss watch brand Omega presents a new interpretation of one of its iconic models, the Railmaster. With a new caliber for improved resistance and a more contemporary design, this new timepiece gets a modern update while staying true to the understated style of the original model.

Omega Railmaster - Omega

Created in 1957, the Omega Railmaster was originally made for railway workers or people working near electrical fields. The watch sought to ensure optimal precision and reliability thanks to a design built to withstand magnetic fields of up to 1000 Gauss. This was a major innovation at the time.

The Railmaster -- which went on to become an iconic model for collectors -- is making a comeback this year with a more recent mechanical movement at its heart. Indeed, the new version is equipped with the Master Chronometer 8806 caliber, resistant to magnetic fields of up to 15,000 Gauss.

The 40mm brushed stainless steel case features an embossed seahorse medallion, an emblem of the watchmaker, and is water-resistant to 150 meters. The case houses a brushed gray dial -- also available in black -- with recessed indexes finished with Super-LumiNova.

In a nod to the railways, the watch has a railway minute track and a "lollipop" central seconds hand.

This updated Omega Railmaster is available with an integrated brushed stainless steel bracelet or a brown leather NATO strap.
