Oscar de la Renta confirms the arrival of Peter Copping

Oscar de la Renta has indeed named its new creative director. The founder of the eponymous fashion house has confirmed its appointment of Peter Copping to the position. With rumours circulating on the topic, obviously fed by the British designer's departure from Nina Ricci at the beginning of October, his arrival isn't exactly a surprise.

Peter Copping was most recently creative director at Nina Ricci, a position he took up in 2009 after having spent 12 years at Louis Vuitton under Marc Jacobs, and a position at Sonia Rykiel before that.

With his appointment, the Oscar de la Renta fashion house is organising its founder succession. At 82 years old, Mr. de la Renta will continue to keep an eye on his house as Peter Copping will be reporting to him and to Alex Bolen, its CEO. An ardent defender of American-style elegance, the prolific designer chose his own successor, whose very feminine, chic and delicate style he appreciates.

Peter Copping will take up his new post at creative director of the New York-based house at the beginning of November, with the first presentation of his work in February, for the 2015/16 Fall/Winter fashion week.
