Outdoor market to grow in value in the following five years

Published
Oct 19, 2015

A new collaborative report by BBE in conjunction with Marketmedia24 has revealed the worldwide outdoor market could rise in value over the next five years, after a period of flat growth. Sales of outdoor products, which had in the past years stagnated at €1.8 million, could reach up to €1.98 million by 2020, predicts the business economist Simone Diebold of Südwesttextil.

BBE has released a new report called Markt:Monitor Outdoor 2015 - BBE

In the study, called Markt:Monitor Outdoor 2015, industry experts discuss the different trends that will shape the market in the coming years.

“Multichannel is only a relevant strategy for companies with an exceptionally strong retail presence,” says Klaus Lehner, CEO of German-based Bergzeit.

"Digital technologies, which are currently almost non-existent in our industry, will be decisive in the future," states Stefan Rosenkranz, CEO of Oberalp.

Jochen Schnell, Chairman of Intersport adds: "The weak euro will force the entire industry to raise its price range."

The BBE report covers outdoor categories such as clothing, footwear and equipment items including tents and sleeping bags.
