Patricia Field revealed on Monday that she will shut down her New York City store after 50 years of business. The 74-year-old told the Daily News that she will close her store in spring 2016 and she confirmed the news via social media by sharing thoughts and well wishes from friends.

“I’ve enjoyed the game … but I’m getting tired, because the store has grown to such a size,” she told the Daily News. “I want to open my social life back up, and go to the gym for a swim every day. I can’t do normal things anymore, and I’m feeling it.”

Field opened her retail store in the West Village at the age of 24 in 1966. She moved the store to its current 4,000-square-foot location on 306 Bowery in 2012. After being in business for five decades, she will part ways to have more free time.

“I know that my clients are going to be sad, because they come in and tell me that there’s no store like this in the world,” she added. “But I’ve gotta watch out for my health and myself.”
