Perfect Corp unveils new digital beauty vision

Virtual beauty app YouCam Makeup is about to get a whole lot smarter.

The app's developer, Perfect Corp, has unveiled a "Beauty 3.0" vision that will take the digital beauty experience to the next level, allowing users to personalize their platforms in real time using artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented reality (AR) technologies.

The update will mean users could soon use the app to get recommended foundation shades that match their skin tones perfectly, for example, or track dermatological concerns over time. Other options include complex live virtual makeup trials (such as ombré hair color makeovers) and on-demand beauty consultations with professionals.

"As the beauty industry continues to adopt digital technology as the gold standard, YouCam is dedicated to pursuing the latest AI and AR developments to deliver individually tailored experiences, marking a new world of beauty designed just for you," said Perfect Corp founder and CEO Alice Chang in a statement.

Perfect Corp will unveil the new concept at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, which runs from January 8-11, 2019.

The development is the latest major move for YouCam, which has had a big year after teaming up with Eyelure on a virtual false lash experience in the spring, and bringing New York Fashion Week to the masses back in September via a runway collaboration with Flying Solo NYC.
