Peruvian Connection continues its expansion in the US with the opening of its first store in New York City on 341 Columbus Avenue in the Upper West Side. The 1,500-square-foot store from the nearly 40-year-old company is the seventh to open worldwide.
“New York is a natural next step for the brand,” says Annie Hurlbut, CEO and founder of Peruvian Connection. “The city is a melting pot of world travelers. We’re excited to showcase our unique perspective and passion for ethnographic textiles within a community renowned for its appreciation of culture and fashion.”
The Upper West Side store features the brand’s artisan knitwear and accessories including its 2015 fall and holiday collections consisting of unique pima cotton sweaters, woolen-spun baby alpaca knits and luxurious alpaca outerwear. The founder, Hurlbut discovered sweaters knit of cashmere-soft alpaca fiber while studying anthropology in Peru and began to design and produce the pieces herself. Peruvian Connection is famous for its fabrics from the Andes and Peru, ethnographic textiles and handcrafted garments.
Peruvian Connection currently has 5 other retail locations in the US in Boston, Chicago, Santa Fe, Kansas City, and Washington DC and a location in London that opened in 2014. The company's headquarters are in Kansas.
