Peter Werth to relaunch next week with new website and extensive offer

Published
Oct 2, 2019

Menswear brand Peter Werth is being relaunched for AW19 on October 8 with a new website to launch on that day, two years after the company exited its physical stores and shut down its previous site.

Peter Werth

The label, which was founded in London back in 1975, has been owned by JD Sports (which also now owns Pretty Green) since 2011 and is operated by JD’s Focus International. So it’s an interesting relaunch given the deep-pocketed (and hugely successful) company that’s backing it.

The brand will start its comeback with a collection of 180+ pieces with prices ranging from £15 to £120. Clothing will come in sizes from small to 2XL and footwear in sizes 7 to 11.

The company turned to London-based digital agency SeventhElement to design and art direct the new webstore, peterwerth.co.uk, saying “the clear and functional design reflects the practicality and style of the Peter Werth man.” The site comes with an editorial section and comprehensive size guide.

As mentioned, the brand has a 44-year heritage and was originally founded as a knitwear label, taking its inspiration from the sharp and subversively formal looks adopted by working class style tribes in the 70s.

It added outerwear, shirting, blazers and fine jerseywear as well as shoes and accessories and much of that will be present in the new offer. That means smart-casual separates including polo shirts in autumnal shades, sweatshirts for easy layering and ‘weekend’ jackets.

The shoes, with prices starting at £75, include formal derbys in patent and half-patent, as well as more casual derbys, plus refined tasselled loafers, Chelsea boots, strapped monks, desert boots and sandals.

Marketing chief Jennie Bianco said: “We are very excited to revive this heritage brand and give Peter Werth a new lease of life. [It] is synonymous with classic British style and this new evolution will offer men a capsule collection that will form their wardrobe staples.”
