Polo Ralph Lauren unveils US flag bearer Olympic uniform

Ralph Lauren and the US Olympic Committee have unveiled the uniform for Team USA's flag bearer in the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympic Games in Rio which begin next week.

Team USA will wear red, white and blue signature looks from Polo, with the flag bearer's uniform being the stand out piece of the team.

“The Flag Bearer Jacket will literally light the way for Team USA as they represent our country in the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games. This groundbreaking jacket exemplifies Ralph Lauren’s continued exploration of the intersection of fashion and technology," said David Lauren, EVP, Global Advertising, Marketing & Communications.

The jacket combines Polo's traditional American style with Silicon Valley innovation, complete with electroluminescent panels that highlight various features on the jacket.

Lauren continued, "For an athlete, being chosen as the flag bearer for Team USA is an extraordinary honor, and we wanted to pay tribute to that position."

The Flag Bearer Jacket will be worn by both the US Olympic and Paralympic Team flag bearers in the opening ceremonies of all of the games.

Ralph Lauren has been the official outfitter of the US Olympic and Paralympic teams since 2008.

The Polo Ralph Lauren Foundation has also kicked off a 2 week campaign pledging to donate $1 for every social media like or share using #LikeToLight to the USOC's Team for Tomorrow program which spreads the Games' values of excellence, friendship, and respect.
