German sportswear multinational Puma announced on Wednesday that it has appointed industry veteran John Miller as its new senior vice president for wholesale at its North American business.

In his new role, Miller will be responsible for leading all elements of Puma North America’s wholesale organization, providing strategic guidance and driving growth by developing brand equity and ensuring customer satisfaction.

He joins Puma from sports protection brand G-Form, where he has held the position of senior vice president and general manager of sales and marketing since October 2017.

Prior to this, Miller spent 11 years at Puma’s US-based rival Nike, where he ultimately served as senior director of sporting goods, a role in which he developed strategic business plans and was responsible for $1.3 billion in revenue. During his time at the American sportswear giant, the executive held a range of different positions which saw him work alongside product creation, merchandising and marketing teams in both footwear and apparel.

Miller also previously worked at Adidas from 2002 to 2006. He begun his career at Reebok, before moving to urban start-up Dada.

News of his appointment comes on the heels of Puma’s record first-quarter sales of 1.32 billion euros ($1.47 billion), representing a 15.3% increase in constant currencies, with growth primarily driven by increases of 28.6% and 16.3% in Asia and the Americas, respectively.
