Published
Mar 24, 2017

Quebec's annual retail summit HOP wrapped up on Wednesday, after a two-day event in Montreal. Now in its 24th year, the event organized by the Conseil québécois du commerce de détail (CQCD), welcomed over 1300 attendees from various sectors of Quebec’s retail industry.

The two-day event included dozens of conferences and welcomed close to 60 guest speakers. The main mission: To generate ideas and give Quebec retailers options and tools for the future, explains Emmanuelle Rouillard-Morea, CQCD’s public relations specialist to Fashion Network.

Among Quebec’s apparel and accessories industry, retailer’s such as La Vie en Rose, Birks, Surmesur, Aldo and more were present.

Opening day-two of the event, CEO of Montreal based lingerie brand La Vie en Rose, Françoise Roberge, spoke on the economic panel on the state of retail in the province, where he noted that his e-commerce team almost doubled last year. Highlighting the potential for Quebec retailers to expand, notably online. He also added; “if you succeed in Quebec, you can succeed everywhere.”

Custom menswear retailer Sumesur co-founder Vincent Thériault equally lead a conference on how innovation has been integral to the brand’s strategy. Meanwhile, President and CEO of apparel retailer Aubenerie, Chantal Glenisson, along with the president of Birks Jean-Christophe Bédos, and other retail leaders lead a discussion on entrepreneurship.

Happening at the same time as HOP, the second edition of HR Mode took place. The national apparel career expo featured more than 100 job opportunities from educational institutions like LaSalle College and some of Canada’s biggest retail brands, such as Canada Goose, Aldo, Joseph Ribkoff, Yoga Jeans, Le chateau and more.

The CQMD will host another retail event called eCommerce-Quebec on October 4 and 5. They have equally already confirmed the 25th edition of HOP, scheduled for March 20 and 21, 2018.
