RVCA invests in NY brick-and-mortar concept through KCDC partnership
Feb 13, 2018
RVCA's latest retail investment has taken shape in a full-scale remodel of iconic Brooklyn-based skate shop, KCDC. RVCA installed a branded space and an art gallery in an effort to elevate its experiential retail in NY.
The back of the new KCDC shop will feature both a gallery and a space to host special RVCA projects. RVCA will generate the artistic content through its Artist Network Program (ANP), a brand initiative that brings local artists together in the community to showcase their work.
RVCA Marketing's Brian Cassaro said, "We plan to bring our brand to the New York community through bi-monthly art shows with ANP and local artists and be closely involved with local KCDC events throughout the partnership."
Cassaro said that the branded space will become a destination for RVCA's NY customers. He added that the space will be "a place to shop and be immersed in the brand.”
KCDC has been in business in Brooklyn for almost twenty years. It is a core skate shop that celebrates the relationship between art and skating.
To kick off the amplified partnership between RVCA and KCDC, RVCA is hosting a skate night event on Wednesday, February 14th. The event will feature a mini ramp jam, ping pong, giveaways and RVCA team athlete appearances.
KCDC will have its grand reopening on February 15th when consumers will also be able to view Brooklyn ANP artist Stephen "Espo" Powers' artwork in store. The event also serves as the launch of the first RVCA x KCDC ANP collection which will be available both in store and on both brands' websites.
