Ralph Lauren COO Wayne Meichner resigns

Wayne Meichner, COO and president of the Ralph Lauren Retail Group, will leave the company according information on WWD, though the delay could be as long as six months. Meichner's future endeavours are not yet known. He joined the group in 2002 as president of Polo Ralph Lauren before being promoted to COO in 2008. Prior to joining the company, the executive spent 20 years at Saks Fifth Avenue where he held the position of president of merchandising.

At the same time, the company has announced the promotion of Joy Herfel to president of wholesale and retail for the group in the Americas. It was recently revealed that Valerie Hermann would join Ralph Lauren as chief executive officer from April onwards.
