Rare Beauty Brands buys Dr. Dana Beauty
Nov 15, 2021
Rare Beauty Brands has announced the acquisition of Dr. Dana Beauty, a nail care company, from Nu Skin Enterprises. A purchase price was not disclosed.
Dr. Dana Beauty offers dermatologist-developed products, clinically proven to support the appearance of healthier, stronger, smoother, shinier, and less brittle nails. Its nail renewal system retails for $33.
As part of the acquisition, brand founder Dr. Dana Stern, will join Rare Beauty Brands’ board of directors. Nails are Stern’s specialty and she is one of only a handful of dermatologists in the country with this expertise. Her private practice specializes in nail health and is recognized as one-of-a-kind in the U.S.
The brand’s strong differentiators and how it speaks to an unmet need is in fact a couple of the reasons why Rare Beauty Brands was interested in the acquisition. Dr. Dana Beauty is also rooted in conscious beauty, which is in line with its portfolio of brands.
Rare Beauty Brands aims to amp up the brand’s distribution. It has 6,000 doors of prestige and specialty distribution with 200 retails in 50 countries.
Rare Beauty brands currently owns skin care brands Patchology and Plant Apothecary, bringing its portfolio up to three. It has been in expansion mode and most recently, earlier this year, it relaunched Plant Apothecary.
