The group president of brands Addition Elle and Penningtons is departing after joining the company just two years ago to help lead the transformation of the two Canadian banners.

In a news statement, the company said Fitzgerald “brought great creativity, new product partnerships, a clear focus on omni-channel, and renewed energy to the business.”

No successor has yet been appointed.

Stephen F. Reitman, president and chief operating officer, will assume responsibility for both the Addition Elle and Penningtons banners, in interim.

The fashion retailer, who also owns Thyme Maternity and RW & CO., said sales dropped to $185.2 million, in the first quarter of 2020, as compared with $207.6 million reported during the same period last year.

E-commerce sales have been a bright spot for the company, but they have not been enough to combat declining comparable sales.

Since last year, it has closed over 40 stores.

The company currently operates 594 stores consisting of 259 Reitmans, 115 Penningtons, 80 Addition Elle, 82 RW & CO. and 58 Thyme Maternity.
