Sundance, the lifestyle brand started by Robert Redford as a catalog business from Utah in the 80s, is expanding its retail footprint by opening its ninth brick and-mortar-store, its first in the Southeast US in Georgia.

The new store location opens this week at the 500,000 square foot retail destination Avalon in Alpharetta, GA just outside of Atlanta. Sundance CEO Matey Erdos called Alpharetta an "art-forward community."

In addition to half a million square feet of retail, Avalon hosts a 12 screen movie theater and will open a hotel on site in its next phase of development. Offices, single family homes and luxury rentals are also tied to the property.

Sundance offers premium women's and men's apparel, footwear, jewelry, accessories, art and home décor. Robert Redford founded it as Sundance Catalog in 1989 with a goal to promote artists and craftspeople from across the US and globally. It has evolved to stand for elevated American artistry with a classic and creative style.

Erdos explained why the brand chose Avalon for its first southeastern location saying, "The Sundance heritage is one of celebrating artistic passion and independent spirit." Erdos called it "an obvious fit for the Sundance brand through our mutual appreciation for, and recognition of, new forms of creative expression."

The Georgia location is Sundance's first eastern US location. The brand has two California stores and an outlet near its headquarters in Salt Lake City, UT. Its other existing stores are in Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Oregon and Minnesota. In addition to its e-commerce business, Sundance has plans to continue opening brick-and-mortar stories across the country.

The new store is located at 8170 Avalon Boulevard in Alpharetta, GA. Its grand opening is Thursday, October 26th.
