Rocket Dog has partnered with LA-based celebrity stylist Chloe Bartoli to launch the first installment of a 90s-themed millennial and Gen-Z-focused collection for the UK called RD x California Girls.

Bartoli says of her RD x California Girls collection, "Growing up, if you didn’t have a pair of Rockets Dogs in high school, you were definitely not part of the cool crowd." She added, "I decided to make my collection a little bit more masculine than what they generally design... I decided to take the platform and add a more rock ‘n’ roll/punk vibe to the collection.”

Bartoli's capsule includes high tops, low tops and slides. Styles are offered with platform soles, metallic uppers and faux fur. The 90s grunge and rave culture aesthetic is channeled through plaids as well as a black, white, metallic silver and red color palette.

RD x California Girls is a new initiative from the brand that rose to fame in the 90s for its platform and stacked footwear. Rocket Dog's first celebrity stylist partnership took place in 2017 when the company aligned with Hollywood stylist Elizabeth Saltzman for the capsule collection ESxRD.

RD x California Girls is an evolution of that program. Bartoli, whose celebrity clients include Jared Leto, Chanel Iman and Poppy Delevingne, was tapped to launch the debut collection for SS18.

“It is very important that the styles are varied for universal wear across geographic regions, while attracting new millennials and Gen-Zers along with Rocket Dog loyalists. Everyone loves California cool. It is a universal love," explained Cathy Taylor, CEO of Millennial Brands, subsidiary of Rocket Dog.

The collection is being sold in Europe through Rocket Dog's UK website as well as in partnership with European shoe retailer Schuh. Price points range from just over $50 for the faux fur slides to $100 for platform high top boots.
