Roots expands Asia presence with new Hong Kong store

Canadian premium outdoor lifestyle brand Roots is continuing to expand its footprint in Asia with a new store and website dedicated to the Hong Kong market.

Through its retail operating partner in Asia, Branded Lifestyle Group, Roots has opened a store in premier shopping centre, Harbour City, which is located in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon in Hong Kong.

"Opening a store at the largest and most diverse shopping mall in Hong Kong is an important first step in what has the potential to be a multi-store market for Roots," said Jim Gabel, President and Chief Executive Officer of Roots. 

The new Roots retail space showcases the company’s distinct character and heritage by immersing shoppers in the company’s iconic feel and product line.The store is curated into four main vignettes that each pay homage to Roots’ history. Customers can expect to find the brand’s Cooper Beaver Collection, Roots Original Salt & Pepper Sweats, as well as seasonally relevant products.

The band has also simultaneously launched an online Roots store on Zalora.com.hk. Zalora, one of Hong Kong's leading names in online fashion shopping, which will give more customers in Hong Kong access to a broad selection of Roots sweats, leather goods and seasonal products. 
 
"Further, with an online store on Zalora, customers can go beyond the physical location to connect with our brand anytime and from anywhere in Hong Kong. Our expansion into Hong Kong is a testament to the continued success of our longstanding partnership with Branded Lifestyle Group," added Gabel.

Asia is Roots' strongest international market where it has been successful in places like Taiwan for over 20 years. Taiwan has 117 Roots stores and is home to several successful Roots cafés, compared to Canada where there are currently 114 corporate retail stores, and the United States where there are seven corporate retail stores.
