The opening marks the brand’s sixth location, joining others in Boston, New York, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles.

“With the perfect blend of urban and nature, we couldn’t think of a better place than Lincoln Park for our very first store in the Windy City,” the company wrote on its website.

Launched in 2016, the eco-friendly footwear company, based in San Francisco, CA, makes shoes and bags out of recycled and sustainable materials such as single-use plastic water bottles, plant-based oil, recycled rubber, and more. It also operates its own sustainable factory in Dongguan, China, assuring no other manufacturers touch its shoes during production.

Similarly to its offered collections, the new Rothy’s Chicago storefront is made from recycled materials. Plaster and ocean-bound plastic was used to create the floor, while cash wrap and cabinets were made from recycled wood fiber content and paper.

Most recent, Rothy’s expanded into men’s shoes with the hopes to capture the men’s market as it did the women’s with its machine-washable, pointy-toed knit women’s ballet flats. The company debuted its men’s shoe line online in May, starting with a sneaker and a driving loafer. More styles are expected to drop later this year.
