Rue 21 names interim CEO and makes executive appointments

Specialty retailer Rue21 announced on Saturday the appointment of Chief Financial Officer Keith McDonough to Interim Chief Executive Officer, Nina Barjestah to Chief Merchandising Officer and Elizabeth Hodges to Chief Customer Officer, a new position for the company.

McDonough served as Rue21 CFO for 13 years and possesses over three decades of senior leadership in the retail industry. He will serve as CEO in the interim as the Board of Directors will conduct a search for a new CEO.

Barjestah and Hodges join Rue21 after serving at Target and Chico FAS, respectively. Hodges brings her extensive experience in brand marketing and advertising to the new position. Prior to Rue21 and Chico FAS, she held leadership positions with JC Penney, American Eagle and Lane Bryant. Barjestah previously served as Target Vice President, General Merchandise Manager of the Women’s Apparel Division and succeeds Kim Reynolds as General Merchandise Manager of Rue21.
