Rützou turns poetry into clothes

Published
Mar 25, 2011

After spending 5 years working as head of styling at Scandinavian label Brunns Bazaar, Suzanne Rützou decided to create her own business around a unique ready-to-wear line. With a strong passion for art and design, she chose powerful themes for her clothes. The Summer collection, currently in stores, has been inspired by the works of Austrian painter Egon Schiele, with references to the 20th century, but also to contemporary art and design.

Suzanne has created a ready-to-wear line for women that is a reflection of her own personality: urban, cultured, independent and self-assured. She opened her first Rützou boutique in 2006 in her hometown, Copenhagen, where she also showcases her collections each season at the Fashion Week.

Customers can find the brand in around 10 European countries and Japan. As for prices, dresses can cost from 200 to 260 euros and trousers are around 200. In 2010, the brand’s turnover went up to 6.5 million euros.

Since 2010, Rützou has also been the edior of a twice yearly magazine called The Chronicle, entirely dedicated to her artistic and philosophical inspirations. Its first edition had as theme “poetic realism”. The Chronicle is currently distributed at Merci or Palais de Tokyo.
