Saks Off 5th launches recycled denim campaign
Aug 17, 2016
Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th is the latest retail partner with Cotton Incorporated’s Blue Jeans Go Green campaign that urges consumers to bring in old denim for recycling instead of waste.
Saks is offering consumers a $10 off coupon to purchase new men’s or women’s jeans for every pair of old jeans donated from now until September 25th, 2016. Saks is running the program at all 101 of its stores across the US.
Blue Jeans Go Green recycles used denim into a product called Ultra Touch Denim Insulation which is used in charity situations with multiple applications such as for Habitat for Humanity communities.
The program was launched in 2006. To date, over 250,000 square feet of insulation has been distributed globally. Cotton Incorporated has also diverted 6 million tons of waste away from landfills through this program.
“We are thrilled to partner with Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th for its first ever denim drive in support of the Blue Jeans Go Green program,” said Andrea Samber, Co-Director of Strategic Alliances at Cotton Incorporated.
Samber continued “We are very excited to introduce the program to new customers and loyal denim fans.”
Jonathan Greller, President, Saks Off 5th and Gilt said, “This partnership was a natural fit for us, allowing us to give back to the community and at the same time, deliver a service to our customers that rewards them as well. It really is a win-win.”
Saks partnership with Blue Jeans Go Green joins the recently announced Guess? partnership with the same organization. Saks will be offering the denim recycling program from now through September 5, 2016.
