Sally Beauty bolsters transformation efforts with new appointments to senior leadership team

As part of its continued transformation plan, international beauty retailer Sally Beauty Holdings, Inc. has announced the appointment of Mary Beth Edwards as group VP for global sourcing, as well as the promotion of Heather Plutino, current group VP of finance and treasurer, to the company’s senior leadership team.
 

Edwards joins the Denton, Texas-based company after 24 years at Arrow Electronics, where she served in a series of roles of increasing responsibility, having most recently held the position of VP of global business operations.
 
In her new role at Sally Beauty, she will oversee indirect procurement, ensuring best practice in the company’s international owned-brand procurement functions. She will also execute on the group’s transformation plan by implementing measures that push for operational efficiency.

Prior to her time at Arrow Electronics, Edwards, who has a BA from Philadelphia’s Temple University, was an officer in the US Army.

Plutino arrived at Sally Beauty in October 2018, joining the company from Ascena Retail Group, where she had served as VP and treasurer. Her previous experience includes time spent in a range of different finance roles at Target Corporation and Charming Shoppes.

“Part of our transformation effort is adding and developing talent to set us up for success now and in the future,” said Sally Beauty Holdings President and CEO Chris Brickman in a release. “The addition of Mary Beth and Heather to the senior leadership team will help drive our aggressive efforts around cost savings, continuous improvement, financial planning and risk mitigation.”
 
In February, the company reported steady first-quarter results, with same-store sales increasing 0.3%, while overall net sales slipped 0.5% to $989.5 million. As part of its ongoing transformation efforts, the group also revealed that it would be closing its distribution centers in Denton, Texas; Anchorage, Alaska and Lincoln, Nebraska.
