The Palo Alto store is a 1,700-square-foot location in the landmark Birge Clark building on 261 Hamilton Avenue. The store retains the historical 1927 design of the building but adds the brand’s traditional fixtures.

The San Francisco store is almost double in size at 3,200-square-feet and is also housed in a landmark building, the Belli Building, which was originally built during the Gold Rush in 1850. A rotating pop up shop from Shinola’s American partner designers will be housed in the store in addition to the brand’s full assortment of goods. The store will be located on 722 Montgomery Street.

COO Heath Carr says, “When Shinola was conceived in 2011, the hope was that people would be interested in the concept of creating world-class manufacturing jobs in a city like Detroit, known for its manufacturing legacy. In addition to Detroit, we collaborate with factories and makers from many cities. It’s with these collaborations that we create products that are long-lasting and made with passion and purpose. We at Shinola are energized by the entrepreneurial spirit of the Bay Area and are excited to be part of the community.”

The Detroit-based company has created hundreds of jobs in the US to date. Companywide, Shinola has created approximately 534 jobs and it will create 20 additional positions with the opening of the two new Bay Area stores.

The Palo Alto and San Francisco stores join 12 Shinola stores in New York City; Chicago; Miami; Washington DC; Dallas; Portland; Ann Arbor, MI; Plano, TX; Minneapolis, MN; LA Silver Lake; London and its home city, Detroit.
