Shinola has opened several locations in a span of only two years, and the Detroit-based watchmaker has plans to continue its expansion.
The watch and leather goods brand expects to have six retail locations open in California and another store in New York City by the end of 2016. A rep for the brand shared that the newest New York City store will be in Dumbo, making it the first store from the brand to open in Brooklyn.
Shinola announced in January that it will open two stores in Venice and the Los Angeles Arts District. The company opened a store in Palo Alto in December and will open a location in San Francisco in February. After February, the Detroit company will have five locations in California (Venice, DTLA, Palo Alto and San Francisco join the Sunset Blvd. store in Silver Lake).
The aggressive expansion in the US is intentional as a way to cement itself as one of the premier American companies and also to create jobs in the country. Shinola operates only one store outside of the US in London, and it has not expressed plans to open another location overseas.
