Simons launches Marimekko pop-up shops

Marimekko’s bold prints and colours are coming to Canada in a big way.

La Maison Simons has partnered with the Finnish design house for the launch of several in-store pop-ups, becoming Canada’s only major retailer to carry a wide assortment of Marimekko ready-to-wear.

Launching this month, the Quebec City-based fashion retailer will house pop-ups at three retail locations including Square One Shopping Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, Place Sainte-Foy in Quebec City, and Rideau Shopping Centre in Ottawa, Ontario. They can be found in the women's designer section.

The pop-ups will run through to the holidays, while its product assortment will transition every month, in order to offer shoppers a new shopping experience and a selection of new merchandise.

The pop-ups’ were designed to reflect Marimekko’s timeless and functional aesthetic, featuring greenery and clean lines plus modern furniture and accessories.

Meanwhile, shoppers can expect to find clothing, bags and accessories as well as home décor items ranging from textiles to tableware from the label’s Fall/Winter 2018-19 collection.

A selection of archive patterns and contemporary prints will be housed including Marimekko’s most iconic prints from the 1950s and 1960s like the classic Unikko (poppy) floral pattern on dresses, bags, scarves and shoes, the striped unisex Jokapoika (every man) Piccolo print shirt and other Marimekko favourites.
