Sylvie Cachay
Dec 10 - The son of an Oscar-winning composer was being questioned on Friday in the death of a swimwear designer whose body was found in a bathtub at an upscale New York hotel, police said.

The body of Sylvie Cachay, 33, founder of the luxury swimwear line Syla, was discovered by a night manager at the members-only SoHo House Hotel in downtown Manhattan on Thursday, police said.

Being questioned was Cachay's boyfriend, Nicholas Brooks, 26, police said. No charges had been filed.

He is the son of composer Joseph Brooks, who won an Oscar for the 1977 song "You Light up My Life."

In 2009, the elder Brooks, 72, was indicted in New York on 91 counts including rape, sexual abuse and assault after being accused of sexual misconduct by four women. His trial on those charges has not yet begun.

Police said Cachay, who was partially clothed, had bruising around her neck and hemorrhaging around her eyes and may have been strangled.

The city's medical examiner was expected to announce the official cause of death later on Friday.
