Startup Fashion Week (SFW) is making its return to Toronto October 15 to 19 for a fifth season, with new initiatives and a new focus.

The five-day event provides a platform for emerging designers and fashion-tech startups to increase visibility through a variety of events, and a runway show. The event also aims to deliver educational and mentoring opportunities for designers trying to break into the industry.
This year’s line up will have a focus on 'Gender & Fashion' and will kick off with an opening party followed by its fifth annual Business of Fashion Conference, on October 17.
“As the executive director of a fashion week, I think it’s important to create a dialogue around Fashion & Gender” said Jodi Goodfellow, SFW’s founder.
On October 18, the Gender and Fashion Forum will explore how Gender is represented in the Fashion Industry with a keynote presentation and panel discussion.
The event will end on October 19 with a runway show finale highlighting 11 candidates including designers and fashion-tech startups.
"Our program has proven to increase visibility for Canadian startups offering them a chance to grow and succeed, we’ve brought awareness to 42 designers, 31 fashion-tech startups and more than 160 emerging models" added Goodfellow, in a news statement.
Earlier this summer, Startup Fashion Week held a Montreal event. It expanded to the Canadian city last year after launching in Toronto in 2014.
