Stone Island opens first store in Canada

Italian brand Stone Island is expanding its presence in North America with the opening of its first store in Canada.

Choosing the city of Toronto as its Canadian home base, Stone Island opened a 190-square-meter space on Yorkville Avenue.

The two-level store has a modern and airy feel with plenty of room for the Stone Island and Shadow Project collections currently displayed. Furnishings are black-stained natural oak, while hangers are composed of carbon bars and anodized aluminium. Shelves are in shades of anthracite.

The interior design follows a concept seen before in Stone Island stores. It was created by Marc Buhre, industrial designer from Heidelberg (Germany) and founder of Zeichenweg TM architectural firm.

The opening marks the brand’s third store in North America after opening in New York and Los Angeles.

The Italian brand led by Carlo Rivetti now has 26 freestanding stores in addition to 18 shops in malls. The majority of Stone Island stores are located across Italy, as well as Europe, with a handful of stores in Asia.
