The western United States was on Tadashi Shoji’s mind for spring 2018. The designer, who celebrates the 30th anniversary of his namesake label, debuted on Thursday his spring 2018 collection that transported his audience the Golden State.

US Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez, Estee Lauder’s granddaughter Danielle Lauder, and actresses Camren Bicondova and Celina Horan were in attendance to see the floral collection. Monochrome and multicolor vibrant floral prints are prevalent and appear on a number of dresses and one-piece ensembles that channeled the 1960s and 1970s styles and present-day festival attire.

The collection has a whimsical feeling and captures the romantic image of California. Gold floral embroidery and gold stripes on dresses captured the state’s clear skies and sunshine, while the shimmer of the final ensembles reference a sky unhindered by city lights.

Free spirits may gravitate to this collection for its airy silhouettes that look ready for California’s annual Coachella festival, or even for a long drive along the Pacific Coast Highway.
