Tailored Brands thinks outside the box in 2018 sustainability report

In Tailored Brands second annual 'Sustainability Report', the menswear group is taking much more than just the environment into account.
In fact, the 2018 Sustainability Report, dubbed 'Tailoring a More Sustainable Future', released on Wednesday, zeroes in on five main topics: Employees, Ethics & Governance, Supply Chain, Operations, and Products.
“At Tailored Brands, we believe in giving back to the communities we serve and the people who support us. We want to make a positive contribution to society and always look for ways we can do better for our customers, employees, shareholders, business partners and the communities in which we operate,” explained Executive Chairman Dinesh Lathi, in a news statement.
For this reason, the company is working toward including sustainability in its strategy through initiatives like a more inclusive workspace, caring about factory conditions, and supporting communities it works in, all while evaluating the sustainability of its supply chain.
“Providing an inclusive workspace where everyone is treated with respect, nurturing the communities in which we operate and being good citizens of our planet have been core principles since the inception of our business. This is central to who we are as a company,” added Lathi.
In terms of its supply chain, the company has been working on conserving energy at its manufacturing facilities, reducing the use of fossil fuels and discarding of waste more effectively.
To date, Tailored Brands has launched new green practices for dry cleaning its tuxedo rental garments for Men’s Wearhouse, Jos. A. Bank, and Moores, and other initiatives like charging stations for electric vehicles for its employees and improved the way it recycles electronics and other materials.
As a result, Tailored Brands was the recipient of the 2018 Circle of Excellence Award by the Distribution Business Management Association in recognition of its sustainable supply chain management, commitment to social responsibility and environmental stewardship.
Meanwhile, other sustainable initiatives were seen through community actions likes its annual suit drive, which included the collection of over 400,000 articles of gently used professional attire.
Looking ahead, the company said it will continue to work to develop more specific sustainability goals and will continue to submit its annual reports.
