Stetson and Los Angeles-based artist Tasya van Ree have collaborated on a new hat style that released this month.

The Tasya van Ree for Stetson topper hat takes inspiration from the vintage style and Tasya’s signature sartorial style. The hat is very minimal and modern with a sense of edge that is reminiscent of Tasya’s work.

“Tasya van Ree’s is an ideal collaborator for Stetson. She looks strong, empowered, and captivating in her hats, which is something that also comes across in her extensive body of work. Stetson has always been a part of contemporary culture and we’re excited to continue to work with artists whose visions relate to our brand,” says Izumi Kajimoto, chief executive officer for Stetson.

An artist and photographer, Tasya van Ree creates drawings, collages and photographs that are dark and romantic. Her photographs have been exhibited in Los Angeles, New York and Paris in solo exhibitions as well as alongside Amy Arbus, David Lynch and Gus van Sant.

Says, Tasya of the partnership, “I wanted to design a piece of art through fashion where the intelligence of nature coexists with the beauty of life. Horses are a direct representation of this order. Their lines are elegant and majestic, with an undertone of magnetism and refined gentleness, very much like this hat.”

The artist and Stetson debuted the collaboration hat on October 28 at Wallplay, an art gallery in New York City’s Lower East Side neighborhood. The Tasya van Ree for Stetson hat retails for $200 and is available on the Stetson website.
