Texworld USA to bring summer show online during Covid-19

Texworld USA, the fabric sourcing event run by Messe Frankfurt, will go digital for the first time ever this July for its summer session, in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The event, in addition to Messe Frankfurt's Apparel Sourcing USA and Home Textiles Sourcing Expo, will take place via a live digital platform from July 21 through 23.

To simulate the show's live experience, the new digital event will feature an online showroom with products from a variety of international and domestic exhibitors. A chat feature will allow online participants to speak with representatives about specific requirements, factory options and more, the company said.

Its comprehensive educational program will also be available digitally, covering topics including sustainability initiatives and environmental and ethical impacts, as well as business tips and sourcing options during a pandemic.

“This was a pivotal decision in ensuring the future success of the shows," said Constantin von Vieregge, president and CEO of Messe Frankfurt North America.

"Amending the platform for this edition allowed us to be considerate of the changing textile industry and global business climate.”

“Despite the current uncertainty that we are facing, we are excited to open our July events virtually," added show director, Jennifer Bacon. "Although nothing will ever replace face-to-face interaction, connecting textile mills and manufacturers from across the globe with U.S. buyers seeking avenues to source fabrics and accessories remains our focus – to provide a platform for product discovery, trend analysis and education.”

Texworld USA was originally scheduled to take place at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City, which was converted into a temporary hospital for non-Covid-19 patients seeking medical care last month.

Registration for the digital event is set to open in the coming weeks.
