The Buckle sales and net income fall in second quarter

The Buckle, Inc. reported on Friday its net sales and net income results for the second quarter and 26-week fiscal period ended on July 30, 2016.

Second quarter net sales decreased 10.1% to $212.2 million from $236.1 million in the prior second quarter. Comparable sales fell 10.8%, and online sales increased 1.4% to $20.4 million from $20.1 million in the previous year’s second quarter.
 
Net sales for the 26-week period decreased 10.2% to $455.7 million from $507.4 million, comparable store net sales declined 10.9% and online sales decreased 0.9% to $43.9 million from $44.3 million in the prior comparable period.

The net income in the second quarter and 26-week period also decreased to $15.5 million and $38.6 million, respectively, and the diluted EPS dropped to $0.32 in the second quarter and $0.80 in the 26-week period.
 
Based in Kearney, Nebraska, Buckle currently operates 470 retail stores in 44 states, and increase of 6 stores over the second quarter of 2015.
