The Estée Lauder Companies announces leadership changes

Published
Apr 14, 2016

The Estée Lauder Companies announced Thursday several leadership updates.

Ivan Fernandez, The Estée Lauder Companies President, Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), will reitre from his position, effective August 31, 2016, and will be succeeded by Peter Jueptner. In addition, Stephane de la Faverie has been appointed Global Brand President, Estée Lauder, effective July 1, 2016; Nancy Mahon has been appointed SVP, Global Corporate Citizenship and Sustainability, effective April 15, 2016; and Maria Cristina González Noguera has been appointed Senior Vice President, Global Public Affairs, effective July 1, 2016.

Fernandez was named President, EMEA in 2008 upon creation of the role. Under his leadership, the EMEA became one of the fastest-growing regions today. He retires after a 25-year career with the company. His successor, Peter Jueptner served as EVP, Strategy, New Business Development and Transformation Initiatives and delivered record results including consistent top-line growth ahead of the prestige beauty industry.

Jueptner also played a key role in strengthening and expanding the company portfolio, overseeing six acquisitions since 2010, including Smashbox. As President, EMEA, Jueptner will report to Cedric Prouvé, Group President, International.

Stephane de la Faverie served as Global Brand President of Origins and Darphin prior to his appointment. He was appointed to the position in April 2014 and led the brand to rapid double-digit growth in China, while invigorating the brand’s footprint in heritage markets such as North America. As Global Brand President, Estée Lauder, Stephane will report to Jane Hertzmark Hudis, Group President.

In Mahon’s new role as SVP, Global Corporate Citizenship and Sustainability, she will work alongside function leads to strengthen the company’s sustainability vision and strategy. During her tenure with Estée Lauder, she helped build and grow cause initiatives including the MAC AIDS Fund, the Jo Malone Garden Trust and the Good Works matching program.

Mahon also serves as Chair of the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS, which President Obama appointed her to in 2011. She will continue to report to William P. Lauder, Executive Chairman, will add a reporting line to Fabrizio Freda, President and Chief Executive Officer, and will continue to report to John Demsey, Chairman, M·A·C AIDS Fund, for her M·A·C AIDS Fund responsibilities.

Lastly, Maria Cristina González Noguera heads back to The Estée Lauder Companies from working almost two years as the Special Assistant to the President and the Director of Communications to First Lady Michelle Obama, where she was responsible for shaping long-term strategic planning and message development for the First Lady. Prior to working with the First Lady, she served as Vice President in Corporate Communications at The Estée Lauder Companies for more than eight years. As SVP, Global Public Affairs, González Noguera will report to William P. Lauder, Executive Chairman, and Fabrizio Freda, President and Chief Executive Officer.
