The ever dynamic and cosmopolitan Denim by Première Vision

Published
Dec 3, 2012

The vibrations were definitely good for this edition Denim by Première Vision, which just concluded November 29 in Paris. One telling detail — one enterprising journalist could hardly get in a word in with exhibitors! For the most part, participants were constantly busy with potential customers. Season after season, the Halle Freyssinet has proven itself to be a primary destination for the world of denim.

This time 87 exhibitors from around the world participated in the event. The show’s only off-key note seemed to be the lack of visitors’ interest in accessories. Textile companies looked to be conducting profitable discussions. And, as an indication of the event’s success, the organizers dared to step up the scenery with more elaborate booths and a beautiful showcasing of trade fair products. Their efforts made a splash and seemed to be well received.

The attendance figures have not been announced yet, so it remains to be seen if this year’s show surpassed the 2,552 buyers recorded last year. However, the number of foreign visitors continues to be impressive (73% in 2011). In attendance were Italians, Germans, Turks, English and even a few French. During the two days, discussions in all languages were heard up and down the aisles about the latest environmental innovations, dye techniques from wine, laser technologies, and most importantly, tough negotiations.

Next up on the denim agenda, the Atelier Denim takes place in Villepinte outside of Paris from February 12 to 14, followed by Denim by Première Vision’s Asian satellite in March. The spring edition of Denim by Première Vision is scheduled for May 22 and 23 in the Halle Freyssinet.
