The signature style of legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix has made its way to the luxury set, as Authentic Hendrix collaborates with Los Angeles-based fashion label Libertine and designer Johnson Hartig on a capsule collection inspired by the musical icon for Fred Segal

Set to make its debut in the spring of 2019, the collection of men's and women's apparel celebrates the 50th anniversary of the musician's Electric Ladyland album, originally released in 1968. Pieces from the capsule were designed by Hartig in collaboration with Authentic Hendrix, the family-owned company responsible for managing Hendrix's name and likeness. Within the partnership, Epic Rights and Perryscope will act as Authentic Hendrix's exclusive retail branding partners.

This week, the companies kicked off a series of promotional events for the new collection with a celebratory reveal at Fred Segal in West Hollywood. That evening, Hartig unveiled one of the collection's unisex shirts, inspired by the photograph Hendrix originally chose for the album cover of Electric Ladyland, taken by Linda Eastman. The shirt is now available for a limited time exclusively at Fred Segal.

Though the full collection has yet to make its public debut, Hartig's admiration for the rock star's fashion sense gives an idea of what to expect.

"Jimi Hendrix defied expectations and pushed musical and performance boundaries as well as fashion boundaries to unbelievable heights," said Hartig in a release. "From tie-dye head scarves, velvet, military-inspired jackets and leather-fringed vests, Hendrix's fashion sense was as bold, innovative and inspiring as his music."

The Jimi Hendrix Luxury Capsule Collection will be distributed exclusively at Fred Segal.

To further celebrate the anniversary of one of the musician's most praised works, Experience Hendrix, L.L.C. and Legacy Recordings released a deluxe-edition box set of Electric Ladyland earlier this month.

Marking the fist and only time a Hendrix studio album has been significantly revamped, the special edition features a newly remastered version of the original double album, demos and studio outtakes from this period in Hendrix's career, and a new 5.1 surround sound mix of the entire original album by Hendrix's original engineer Eddie Kramer.
