Three names added to Haute Couture calendar
The Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture on Tuesday announced that fashion houses Schiaparelli, Ralph & Russo and Serkan Cura have been invited to show as guest members at Haute Couture Fashion Week in January 2014.
Schiaparelli will make its long-awaited return to the runway in January with its first collection under the artistic direction of ex-Rochas designer Marc Zanini. It is expected that the label – owned by Diego Della Valle of the Tod’s Group – will receive an official invite to become a member of the Chambre Syndicale. While the dormant brand’s resurrection will is much anticipated, many are eager to see what Serkan Cura and Ralph & Russo can bring to the table.
After graduating from the Académie d’Anvers, Serkan Cura – a Belgian designer of Turkish heritage – worked under Jean Paul Gaultier and has been showing his Haute Couture collections in Paris since 2012. He designs have been seen on fashion icon Daphne Guinness and in Ra stores.
Well-known on the red carpet, London-based Australian duo Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo regularly dress stars and royalty for special eveners. Ralph oversees design and Russo, finances.
Sold at Harrods, Ralph & Russo also dressed Beyoncé for her most recent world tour. The duo are the only fashion professionals to features on the ’40 Under 40 – Ones to Watch’ list and the business magazine says that annual sales growth at the label is at 400%.
