Tommy John found a new investor in comedian Kevin Hart. The stand-up comedian and movie star recently invested in the premium men’s underwear company for an undisclosed amount.
Hart is a long-time fan of Tommy John and reached out to Patterson to discuss the possibility of collaborating on an edited collection. In fall 2017, Tommy John will launch the edited collection with Hart that pairs his personal style with the brand’s product offering.
"I wanted to be something more than just another celebrity endorser," said Hart. "There's something so much more authentic about investing in the brands that you love – brands that you wear, instead of getting paid to. I love this underwear. It's comfortable, it looks good, they say it like it is. Tommy John is disrupting, innovating and marketing underwear in a far more genuine and relatable way than the world has ever seen. I'm excited to be given the opportunity to get involved."
Tom Patterson founded Tommy John in 2008, and launched with a patented undershirt with a stay-tucked guarantee before expanding to underwear, socks, casual wear and performance gear. The company has grown 2.5 times year over year since 2014 and is expected to exceed $100 million in sales by 2018.
