Toronto's Yorkville Village hosts fashion exhibition

Toronto’s Yorkville Village is continuing to change the face of the shopping destination this month by playing host to an art and fashion exhibition dedicated to surrealist artist Salvador Dalí.
 
The exhibition, created in partnership with The Dalí Universe and Hazelton Fine Art Galleries, is currently open to the public inside Yorkville Village until September 30th.
 

Baptized Dalí x Yorkville Village, it features approximately 30 pieces including famous sculptures and paintings by Salvador Dalí, as well as six designer dresses inspired by the surrealist icon, including Franco Moschino's whimsical t-shirt dress that salutes Dalí's iconic moustache and a dress by Vivia Ferragamo, the granddaughter of shoe designer Salvatore Ferragamo.
 
Visitors can equally find Dalí’s famous Vogue covers from the 1930s and 1940s.

Yorkville Village, formerly known as Hazelton Lanes, has been under-going redevelopment plans since 2015 and transforming its image to reflect a new shopping, dining and lifestyle destination.
 
Most recently, the shopping centre owned by First Capital Realty (FCR), welcomed Quebec shoe retailer JP Fortin – a first in Ontario - as well as Canada’s first Belstaff, a luxury British sportswear brand.
 
Last week, Yorkville Village was also home to Toronto Fashion Week, which was re-launched this year by Peter Freed following its purchase from IMG Canada.
 
In fact, on the Dalí x Yorkville Village opening night, designer Jean Paul Gauthier who was invited as a Toronto Fashion Week guest perused the exhibit to discover the work of the avant-garde artist and his influence on the world of fashion.
 
More retailers including first-to-market stores such as Chanel are expected to open in the Bloor-Yorkville area before the end of the year.
